The 20^th season of Joy to the World with Bob Thompson will be held at the Culture Center in Charleston, WV December 13, 2012.   

 The show is produced by West Virginia Public Broadcasting and performed before a consistently sold-out audience.  Joy To The World has traditionally been the kickoff to the holiday season in Charleston.

Each year Bob invites a guest vocalist to join his band to add some swing to the holiday special.  This year’s Joy to the World features special guest vocalist Catherine Russell. 

Catherine is a one of a kind vocalist. She has toured the world, performing and recording with Paul Simon, David Bowie, Steely Dan, Cyndi Lauper, Jackson Browne, Michael Feinstein, Levon Helm and Rosanne Cash, among others. 

Catherine is that rarest of entities - a genuine jazz and blues singer - who can sing virtually anything. Her voice is full blown femininty incarnate; a dusky, stalwart and soulful instrument that radiates interpretive power yet remains touchingly vulnerable.

She launches fearlessly into each tune, getting inside the melody and capturing every emotion. Catherine joins the ranks of the greatest interpreters and performers of American Popular Song.
