Senator, delegate give identical speeches in support of oil and gas industry

February 25, 2009 · On the floor of the House and Senate Wednesday, two lawmakers gave identical speeches boosting the oil and gas industry.

Two bills dealing with the oil and gas industry are making their way through the Legislature – one that benefits the oil and gas producers, the other protects landowners when drilling to done of their property.

 

In Wednesday's floor session, both Senate Finance Chairman Walt Helmick, D-Pocahontas, and new House Majority Leader Brent Boggs, D-Braxton, gave word-for-word identical speeches supporting the oil and gas industry.
