Update: Some early voting suspended
October 30, 2012 ·
So far six counties in West Virginia have suspended early voting because of storms.
Early voting in Jefferson,
Morgan, Randolph, Nicholas, Preston, and Braxton counties are cancelled today
because of inclement weather.
The county clerks in
each of those locations worked with Secretary of State Natalie Tennant to
decide whether to suspend voting.
“We found some of the difficulties, most of the weather
conditions, whether its road whether its power outage, or poll workers and
members of the county clerks’ staff being able to get to the courthouse and
ultimately the safety of the workers and the voters,” Tennant said.
Tennant says in some
counties where courthouses are closed, early voting continues.
The Secretary of State website has an updated list of
counties where early voting is suspended.
