WVU fans celebrate in streets after Texas win, set fires

Celebrations erupted in Morgantown early Sunday morning following West Virginia University’s 48-45 win over the University of Texas in football. Fans were jubilant and several fires were reported.
The win over Texas improves WVU’s record to 5-0 this year, and 2-0 in the Big 12 conference.
Following the game, WVU fans poured onto High Street downtown to celebrate.
The celebrations brought State Police and local police to the scene. Fires were also reported in the city.
WVU released a statement saying students charged in the incidents will be subject to disciplinary procedures.
This is WVU’s first season in its new conference, the Big 12. The win at Texas was the school’s first conference road win. WVU is now ranked fifth in the country.
West Virginia’s next game is Saturday, against Texas Tech in Lubbock, Texas.
