Governor recognizes long time public employees

October 3, 2012 · State employees with 30 to 50 years of service were recognized yesterday afternoon during an awards ceremony in Charleston.

Anthony G. Halkias, Director of the Legal Division for the Department of Transportation was recognized for his 50 years of service to the state of West Virginia.  Halkias has been at his current position since 1968 and said he’s enjoyed serving the people of the state and beyond.   

  

“It’s being a public servant and providing good service to the people of the state of West Virginia and the traveling public,” he said 

  

Despite having been with the state for 50 years, Halkias said he has no plans of slowing down or retiring anytime soon. 

  

“As long as I’m able to get up and go to work, I’d rather do that.”
