Appalachian Regional Healthcare receives $6.7 million

An approved $6.7 million loan was announced today for the largest provider of care and single largest employer in southeastern Kentucky and the third largest private employer in southern West Virginia, Appalachian Regional Healthcare.
State Director Bobby Lewis
announced that the United States Department of Agriculture Rural Development
approved a Community Facilities Direct Loan of $6.7 million
for the not-for-profit health care provider Appalachian Regional Healthcare,
based in Raleigh County.
The Rural Development funds will
be used to renovate the existing Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital. The project will include a new facility
exterior, renovations to the fourth floor, and an upgrade to the heating and
air conditioning system.
An initial loan
of $6.8 million was approved in June. This completes a package for $13.5
million to renovate the existing hospital.
