September 28, 2012 · Tomorrow is the Governor’s Day to Serve. West Virginia is joining it’s neighbors in Virginia, Maryland and Washington D.C. to participate in a regional day of doing good deeds.

First Lady Joanne Tomblin has some suggestions.

“Go work at a food pantry, provide donations to a local food pantry or seeds to a community garden. If you want to work on a clean up project around your community, a lot of folks are working on Adopt A Highway.

"Send cards and letters to responders, to people in nursing homes. Send care packages to deployed troops.  Cook a meal for your neighbor. You know there’s a lot of health services I believe that are doing screenings and free dental work for people. So it’s just, you know, whatever your imagination can take you.”

Mrs. Tomblin says there are 420 projects going on in all 55 counties on Saturday’s day of service.  To find out what’s going on in your area visit http://www.daytoserve.org.
