CONSOL Energy coal miner dies in mining accident

September 13, 2012 · Consol Energy coal miner William Edward Mock died after a mining roof fall accident on Thursday.

 

In a statement, CONSOL Energy says William Edward Mock, 61, sustained serious injuries at the Blacksville No. 2 Mine, in Greene County, PA.

He was transported by ambulance to an area hospital and passed away.

According to CONSOL, indications are that he was struck by a rock along the track haulage.

CONSOL is working with federal and state mining officials to determine the cause of the incident.

CONSOL spokeswoman Lynn Seay says the company's thoughts and prayers go out to the family of the deceased man during this difficult time.

The state House of Delegates has officially elected a new leader to take former Speaker Rick Thompson’s position. Delegate Tim Miley of Harrison County was elected by members of the House during a special session yesterday, but it still remains to be seen if some committee chairs will hold their positions under the new leadership.
