August 17, 2012 · The West Virginia Regional Jail Authority has named Joe DeLong as executive director.

DeLong had served as acting executive director since February. He replaces Larry Parsons, who resigned in late January.

DeLong also temporarily filled the position in 2010 after former director Terry Miller was terminated.

Media outlets say the authority approved DeLong's appointment on a unanimous vote Thursday.

Delong is a former House of Delegates majority leader.
