Schedule changes for Eastern Panhandle commuters
July 13, 2012 ·
Riders of the commuter train that goes from Martinsburg to Washington D.C. will have a different schedule starting Monday.
The Maryland Transit Administration has tweaked the schedule
and changes include an additional early morning east bound train and
elimination of a west bound late train.
Commuters can now catch a train at 5 a.m. Washington
shortly after 7. There are also trains at 5:25 a.m.
and 6:25 a.m.
The most controversial change was made in the afternoon and
evening schedules. MARC has eliminated the late train to Martinsburg. It
previously left Washington at 7:25 p.m. arrived in Martinsburg around 9:30p.m.
Riders will now arrive in Brunswick
Maryland about 8:50 p.m. and will catch a bus to the Harpers
Ferry, Duffields and Martinsburg stations.
MARC is also offering bus service on an earlier train that
leaves Washington at 3:30 p.m. and arrives at Brunswick
around 5 p.m.
A statement on the Maryland Transit Administration web site
says after 90 to 120 days operating on the new schedule adjustments will be
made as necessary.
