December 13, 2010 · Elected officials from across the country have started a new group aimed at reducing political partisanship. Senator Joe Manchin is among those joining 'No Labels.'

West Virginia's Joe Manchin was among the 1,000 who attended the first meeting of the group in New York City Monday morning.

No Labels includes New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Florida Gov. Charlie Crist and Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa.

It's calling itself a nonpartisan organization committed to bringing all sides together to move the nation forward.

Manchin says the group is not trying to eliminate the nation's two-party system. "I have met all 99 other senators," he said.

"I can assure you that each and every one of them I've met seems like really truly the best of intentions. They're here for the right reasons. They really want to do what's best for the country and their constituents."

The senator says the group represents the philosophy that he followed for six years as West Virginia's governor.
