Report: WV elders living on the edge
June 4, 2010 ·
A new report outlines how much money your elderly mother will have to have to stay in her own home. She’ll need an annual income of $15,000 or more to pay her expenses.
However, basic needs are exceeding the income of too many senior
citizens in the state.
Today, over 130
senior advocates and service providers from across the state are meeting in Charleston
to discuss Elders Living on the Edge, the new report by the West Virginia Center on Budget and Policy.
The conference will
discuss the state’s just completed elder index of economic well-being.
Stacy Sanders
with the National Elder Economic Security Initiative in Washington
D.C. conducted the survey.
