Harlem advocate for children addresses early childhood education in WV

May 3, 2010 · Early Childhood Development was the theme for an event attended by business and community leaders in Charleston earlier this month.

The Discover the Real West Virginia Foundation was created in 1993 by Senator Jay Rockefeller to diversify the state’s economy and give existing industries the tools to compete in the global economy.

  

A nationally-known advocate for education reform, Geoffrey Canada, gave the keynote address during the group’s inaugural speakers lunch.

  

John Hingsbergen spoke with Mr. Canada about his work with the Harlem Children's Zone .
