Flight aborted at Yeager Airport Monday
February 8, 2010 ·
Flights at the Yeager Airport in Charleston are being delayed after a Delta pilot aborted takeoff.
Airport spokesman Brian Belcher says no one was injured in
Monday's incident.
Belcher said the airplane blew two tires, but it was unclear
whether that caused the pilot to abort the flight or was the result
of the aborted takeoff.
He said the plane was carrying 46 passengers and three crew
members to Cincinnati. It slid between 300 and 400 feet before
coming to a stop about 500 feet from the end of the mountaintop
runway.
Flights could resume later Monday morning.
It was the second time in less than a month that a pilot has
aborted takeoff at Yeager.
The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating both
incidents.
