August 27, 2009 · A fire engulfed a four-story coal preparation plant in Logan County Thursday morning, but no one was reported hurt.

State mine agency spokeswoman Jama Jarrett says the fire at the Massey Energy-owned Band Mill plant started around 3:30 a.m. Thursday.

Firefighters were still at the scene at 8 a.m., which is near Rum Creek.

Jarrett says everyone got out of the building unharmed and no injuries were reported.

There's no word yet on what started the fire in the building where coal is cleaned.

A call to Massey spokesman Jeff Gillenwater was not immediately returned Thursday.
