West Virginia Public Broadcasting launches its

Mountain State Science series featuring scientific research and science educators throughout West Virginia.

A team of seven award-winning journalists is covering stories ranging from nanotechnology to the environmental sciences. They’re delivering fascinating reports on research in astronomy, robotics and virtual reality technologies. And they’re profiling the teachers and professors who are inspiring our students to pursue careers in science, technology, mathematics and engineering.

Mountain State Science is made possible through a partnership with the National Science Foundation’s Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research. EPSCoR is directed in West Virginia by the Higher Education Policy Commission’s Division of Science and Research.

The program expands and enhances the research capacity of scientists at West Virginia’s primary research institutions, while also extending opportunities in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields to smaller institutions and broadening the public’s understanding of these crucial fields. West Virginia is one of 27 states and territories eligible to participate in the EPSCoR initiative.
