Community members in the Marsh Fork area of Raleigh County are reacting to this week’s ruling by the West Virginia Supreme Court. The high court gave it’s approval for coal giant Massey Energy to build another coal silo near Marsh Fork Elementary School. It’s been a contentious issue for years.
This week, the United States Supreme Court ruled that West Virginia Supreme Court Justice Brent Benjamin should have recused himself from a case involving coal company Massey Energy. That's because Massey’s CEO Don Blankenship spent more than $3 million to help get Benjamin elected. The story behind this decision goes back seven years and involves a cast of characters worthy of a John Grisham thriller.
