Doyle Lawson and the latest version of Quicksilver |
We're glad to welcome for the 4th time to the Mountain Stage, a true living legend of bluegrass music, Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver
. Lawson came up playing mandolin with the likes of JD Crowe and the Country Gentleman, perfecting his trademark baritone vocal.
Just like those legendary outfits, his band Quicksilver has become an institution of it's own, churning out top-tier musicians and singers while keeping that Quicksilver sound.

The Lovell Sisters |
Also joining us will be renowned harmony-loving trio, the Lovell Sisters, Jessica, Megan, and Rebecca. They've all had some classical training, which we all know is a great starter for the world of acoustic folk and bluegrass music. These girls will be charming audiences for some time to come.
Tickets for June 7 go on sale May 4, and will be available on the Chuck Mathena Website or by calling 877.425.5128
Charleston has been getting geared up for this year's FestivALL, our multi-faceted, city-wide arts & entertainment festival scheduled for June 19-26, 2009.
Mountain Stage has typically closed FestivALL on the final Sunday. This year we're going to kick the whole thing off on Friday, June 19 with a very special show at The Clay Center featuring two of the biggest names in the blues.
If you name a major guitar player in any genre, chances are they've been influenced by the legendary Buddy Guy. From Hendrix and Clapton to Knopfler and Beck, they've all drawn upon this Chicago legend for inspiration.
The Blues proprietor and restaurateur will make his third appearance on Mountain Stage Friday, June 19. Keep reading for ticket info.
Making a third appearance on Mountain Stage, and a second during FestivALL, will be the new blues queen Shemekia Copeland.
An amazing singer with loads of talent that stretches far beyond the boundaries of the blues, Shemekia is a wonderful entertainer who has certainly hit her stride.
Her latest record, "Never Going Back," not only solidifies her as a bright star but proves she'll be shining well into the future. Dig some of the album HERE.
Tickets for June 19 go on sale next Tuesday, March 31 at TheClayCenter.org or by phone at 304.561.3570 and a limited number will be available in town, at Taylor Books, 226 Capitol Street, Charleston.
The time for summer planning is upon us! We hope you can join us in June, if not before.
