Lucero2-2010
Lucero

There will be plenty of guitar amps scattered on stage this Sunday as we bring Mountain Stage to the Culture Center Theater for a 7pm show featuring Memphis rockers Lucero, Mid-western mainstays The Bottle Rockets, nu-grass pioneer Sam Bush, rootsy-tunesmiths from Central VA Sons of Bill and Putnam County, WV's own Bud Carroll & The Southern Souls.

The thread that ties them all together is their unclassifiable sound - Rock? Country-Rock? I guess that's what you call "Americana." Read our PDF Newsletter HERE, and read on for some videos and recent newspaper stories.

Tickets are available ONLINE, by phone at 800.594.TIXX or locally at Taylor Books. Will Call Tickets can be picked up starting at 5pm at the Mountain Stage Box Office. Doors open at 6:30pm.

Lucero just wrapped up a hometown stay in Memphis before heading out on a tour that brings them to Mountain Stage on Sunday. Check out their latest video for "What Are You Willing To Lose?" by director Bo Liebman off their latest CD, "1372 Overton."

Sam Bush

Mandolin man Sam Bush, who has been with us many times with many musical factions, had some kind words on our show in a Huntington Herald-Dispatch article. His last appearance on the show was with Bill Evans Soulgrass).

"Circles Around Me" is the latest CD from Sam Bush and it features co-writes with Guy Clark & Verlon Thompson, recent guest John Cowan, and Edgar Myer, as well as some arrangements of a few traditional numbers. Bush explains the origins of the title track, which he co-wrote with Jeff Black, with some performance footage, in the video below.

The Bottle Rockets

Bottle Rockets have just returned from a January trek through Spain, touring in support of their tenth CD "Lean Forward". You can read some of the praise the album has garnered on their Web site and purchase the CD HERE, or MP3s here. Below is a video of "Indianapolis."

Sons of Bill
Sons of Bill have been burning up the roads, packing on the miles and gaining fans at every stop, including last summer's Austin City Limits Festival. The Charleston Gazette has a feature on the band you can read online and watch a "making of" video below, with footage of their debut CD "One Town Away."

They post mp3s reguarly on their Web site  and have plenty of  tasty live videos on their YouTube Channel.

BuCarrollSouthernSouls-2010
Bud Carroll & Southern Souls

Bud Carroll  has been a mainstay on the music scene in Huntington, WV for a better part of his life, save for the time he spent traveling and recording with American Minor. They put a record out for Jive and opened for heavyweights like Tom Petty, The Black Crowes and the Allman Brothers. Read more about Carroll in a Charleston Daily Mail feature online.

Since returning to West Virginia, Carroll has been producing and recording other artists, in addition to releasing an EP and full-length CD, Wasted Words & Best Intentions with The Southern Souls- bassist Jimmy Lykens, drummer Steve Barker and multi-instrumentalist Jon Cavendish. Check out "I'm No Stranger" below and get tickets Online, locally at Taylor Books, or at 800.594.TIXX
